Week 20

It really is fall now. Look at all of those apples and root vegetables! And lots of dark, leafy greens.

Polenta with Garlicky Braised Kale and White Beans

Polenta with Garlicky Braised Kale and White Beans

This has become my absolute favorite cold-weather comfort food. Healthier than mac and cheese, but  I made it pretty consistently last winter when I was dealing with "I took a job that's not a good fit for me" blues. I'm not having any of those blues this year, but a little comfort food isn't a bad thing.

Weeks 18 & 19

Fall CSA share week 18
Week 18 share
So... blogging. It's not really happening right now. I had every intention of actually posting a recipe during the last two weeks (and actually posting weeks 18 and 19 as separate posts), but things keep getting in the way. Not negative things like last year. I'm actually busy in a good way! But that does mean that sometimes blogging about the delicious food I make isn't happening, because I'm focusing on actually making it and enjoying eating it.

Week 17

CSA Week 16: Late summer/early fall veggies

Late post! I had a crazy weekend. Not weekend in Vegas crazy, but it was packed with stoop-sale and flea market scouring in an attempt to find non-IKEA decorating solutions, curtain sewing, and a trip to the Brooklyn Book Festival. I know. I'm a wild woman.

Broccoli Breakfast Tacos

Broccoli Breakfast Tacos

Weekends are made for lazy breakfast, crosswords, and big cups of coffee. Lazy breakfasts are even better when they're Mexican-inspired--and inspired by one's favorite Happy Hour treat.

Week 16--I'm Back!

After a three week hiatus I'm back! I have internet, most of the necessary furniture (IKEA was completely out of dining chairs when I went. What the what?). I'm settling in to my new home and my new job. And all of a sudden it seems to be fall.

CSA Week 13--Break Up Song Edition

When moving, it's important to label boxes. Especially if you really need to know where the coffee pot is.
Priorities, people.
It's moving day tomorrow. My life is packed up in approximately 30 boxes and a couple of guys are going to come over tomorrow and move everything to my new home. I have the keys today though, so I brought everything from the CSA distribution and put it in my new fridge. I grabbed some peaches, plums and tomatoes to eat today and for breakfast tomorrow. And then by the end of the day on Sunday I'll be in a new place, and Monday I'll be starting a new job. But I'll have so many heirloom tomatoes, I probably won't notice, right?
