My adventures in eating all of the produce from my CSA (no matter how unusual it may be) and trying to eat as locally as possible.

CSA Week 10
Happy Can-It-Forward Day!
Sadly (or happily for them) most of this is going to my downstairs neighbors since I'll be on vacation next week. Although, some of the things that will travel well are taking a ride on Amtrak with me. Some will be canned later today (and you'll get to read about those adventures tomorrow and Monday). But my real Can-It-Forward celebration is going to happen Tuesday or Wednesday with my mom and sisters.
1 cantaloupe
1 lb. beefsteak tomatoes
1 lb. New Red Potatoes (NY 118)
.5 lb. salad mix
1 lb. zucchini/squash
1 lb. Kirby cucumbers
1 English cucumber
1 head German white garlic
1 Gonzales cabbage
4 lbs peaches
I have a confession to make though. There was another item. Some curly parsley. Parsley is definitely an under-appreciated herb, but I really don't like the curly kind. And I'm going away. So I did it. I swapped parsley for some extra potatoes. It was bound to happen sooner or later.
I excited for that cantaloupe though. Excuse me while I go cut it up and eat if for breakfast while I'm waiting for my peach blanching water to boil.
(Aren't I so much more pleasant now that I'm on vacation...?)

yes! curly parsley sucks. I love flat leaf parsley - it's got great flavor. I always picture the curly kind as the type of stuff mediocre restaurants chop up and sprinkle on their dishes to make it look "fancy"... It serves no flavor or texture purpose. It's just stale.
